Phil Hellmuth Phil Hellmuth poker player profile. Get latest information, winnings and gallery.
Biography Phil Hellmuth, Jr. is an American poker player, widely regarded as one of the best poker players in history. Hellmuth has won a record 17 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, including the 1989 WSOP Main Event. In 2007, he was inducted into the WSOP Hall of Fame. During his career, Hellmuth has acquired the nickname ‘The Poker Brat’ for his often expletive-filled rants about bad beats and his opponents dubious plays against him. The poker legend, considered by many to be the greatest tournament poker player ever, won his 17th bracelet at the 2023 WSOP when he took down Event #72: Super Turbo Bounty for $803,818 plus bounties. Hellmuth is a polarizing character due to his incessant trash talk, huge self-belief, and his often unorthodox playing style. However, there is no denying the Poker Brats ability; you do not win 17 WSOP bracelets without knowing your way around a poker tournament. Never one to do things by halves, Hellmuths first WSOP bracelet came in 1989 when he took down the $10,000 Main Event. The then 24-year-old Hellmuth became the youngest-ever winner of the WSOP Main Event, a record he held until Peter Eastgate (22) won in 2008. Hellmuth has since gone on to win 16 additional bracelets and is the only player in history to have won at least one WSOP bracelet in every decade from the 1980s to the 2020s.

Baldwin’s last major cash came in 2012, finishing seventh in the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop for $1,408,000. The famed high-stakes poker room at the Bellagio is named ‘Bobby’s Room’ after Baldwin. Railbird Report: A Look Inside Bobby’s Room

Is WPT Global Poker Available in Ontario?
WPT Global poker is available across much of Canada, but due to Ontario’s provincial legislation, players from Ontario are blocked from accessing the platform. Ontario has a regulated online poker market that requires operators to obtain a local license and comply with strict rules, such as ring-fencing player pools so that Ontario residents compete only against other Ontario-located players. Since WPT Global operates under an international license from Curaçao and does not have an Ontario-specific license, Ontario players cannot legally use WPT Global to play poker. Instead, Ontario residents must use provincially licensed platforms like GGPoker Ontario or 888poker Ontario to participate in online poker, including the WPT World Championship events.
Is WPT Global Legal in Canada? Latest 2025 Update
WPT Global is legal for most Canadian players as the platform operates under a legitimate license issued by the Government of Curaçao (license #365/JAZ). This license ensures that WPT Global adheres to regulatory standards, including using certified Random Number Generator (RNG) technology, conducting KYC verification, and applying robust security measures like two-factor authentication and IP/device tracking. While the Curaçao license is not the strictest globally, ongoing regulatory reforms and increased enforcement under EU pressure enhance the platform’s credibility. This makes WPT Global a safe option for Canadian poker players outside of provinces with specific restrictions.

WPT Global is operated by Seventip N.V. and is recognized as a secure and fair platform for online poker players. While the Curaçao license is not the strictest globally, ongoing regulatory reforms and increased enforcement under EU pressure enhance the platform’s credibility. This makes WPT Global a safe option for Canadian poker players outside of provinces with specific restrictions.
Play Online Poker Legally in Ontario 2025
Certainly! Here is a detailed, complete blog-style answer about playing online poker in Ontario in 2025: Playing online poker in Ontario is fully legal and regulated as of April 4, 2022, a landmark date when the Ontario government officially opened its doors to licensed online gambling operators. This legal framework allows companies to offer a range of online gaming products, including poker, casino games, and sports betting, to residents aged 19 and older physically located in Ontario. The market is regulated primarily by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) along with its subsidiary entity, iGaming Ontario (iGO), which oversees licensing, compliance, and player protections. Notable licensed operators authorized to serve the Ontario market include well-known brands such as PokerStars Ontario, GGpoker Ontario, PartyPoker Ontario, and BetMGM Poker Ontario, ensuring players can enjoy games on trustworthy platforms designed to meet provincial standards for fairness and security. Since its launch, the regulated market has guaranteed safe gaming through requirements like advanced encryption technology, rigorous Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures, and responsible gambling measures such as deposit limits, loss limits, self-exclusion options, and time management tools to help prevent problem gambling. Furthermore, free-to-play poker options remain widely available in the province, through apps and sites like ClubGG and the World Series of Poker app, which legally offer entertainment without real money stakes or prizes, appealing to casual players and newcomers alike.
WPT Global Poker Availability in Ontario 2025
WPT Global is widely available across Canada, providing a popular online poker platform for players in most provinces, but Ontario remains a notable exception due to provincial legislation. Specifically, WPT Global is accessible to players in provinces such as Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec, where players can enjoy various poker formats including Texas Hold ’em, Omaha, and other exciting variants. For example, in Alberta, WPT Global players benefit from rake-free tournaments and generous bonuses, enhancing their overall poker experience. However, Ontario restricts access to WPT Global because the province has strict regulations requiring online gambling sites to be licensed locally, which WPT Global currently does not hold.
