Joris Ruijs Joris Ruijs poker player profile. Get latest information, winnings and gallery.
Biography Joris Ruijs is a Dutch professional poker player who specialises in tournament poker. Predominately an online poker grinder, one with almost $10 million in online poker earnings, Riojs is both feared and respected in equal measure. Ruijs is known as “BillLewinsky” or “KONY2012” in online poker circles, the former being his PokerStars alias. Ruijs is approaching $6 million in PokerStars winnings, an impressive haul helped by capturing a $530 NLHE Sunday Million SE title at the 2019 Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) for a career-best $217,140, and a World Championship Of Online poker (WCOOP) title in 2019 for $70,158. Away from the virtual felt and into a live setting, Ruijs has some superb results. To date, Ruijs has more than $2.5 million in live tournament earnings, with a career-best score worth 488,819 ($571,043. Ruijs enjoyed a few in-the-money finishes from 2010, but it was 2016 when things started to click. He banked more than $230,000 in 2016, another $350,000 in 2017, but 2018 was a year for Ruijs to remember. Ruijs won a 2,200 No-Limit Hold’em event at EPT Barcelona for 260,050 and two days later finished third in the 10,300 EPT Barcelona High Roller for 488,819. Throw into the mix a handful of other results, and Ruijs won more than $1 million in 2018. Like the rest of the poker world, there was a lack of results throughout 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19-related lockdowns, but 2022 saw Ruijs hit the live felt with renewed vigour, helping himself to almost $500,000 in winnings, partly thanks to winning a $3,300 buy-in event at the Merit Poker Retro Series in North Cyprus for $294,510.

Mike Matusow Mike Matusow poker player profile. Get latest information, winnings and gallery.
Biography Never one to crawl into a shell at the table, Mike The Mouth Matusow got his nickname for his reputation of talking trash at the poker table. Of these well-known rants, Matusows most famous incident might be when he berated eventual champion Greg Raymer in the 2004 Main Event. Matusow took up poker at a young age when a friend introduced him to the game just before the 1990s. The game would soon become more and more serious for him. He took up a job as a poker dealer where he was able to pick up on various strategies and watch others play hand after hand, which helped him greatly. Following dealing, Mike took up the game professionally and never looked back. Everyone may remember that Scotty Nguyen won the 1998 WSOP Main Event for a cool $1 million. If you watch the footage of the event, youll see Mike Matusow rooting Scotty on from the rail. The Mouth paid one-third of Scottys satellite buy-in, which he ended up parlaying into an overall victory in the Main Event. For this, Matusow was given a third of Nguyens winnings. One year later, Matusow would win his first bracelet. He followed that up the next year with some more WSOP cashes before making a very deep run at the 2001 Main Event. He placed sixth and earned almost $240,000. In 2002, Matusow won his second bracelet and in 2005 he made another deep run in the Main Event. This time around, he finish was slightly worse when he placed ninth, but it was worth more than four times what he earned in his previous Main Event final table. He took home $1 million. Later that same year, the WSOP Tournament of Champions was held and Matusow won the event for another $1 million. He would eventually win his third bracelet in 2008, cashing multiple other times along the way. The Mouth also has made a few WPT final tables. Hes cashed in many other events, some of which include the National Heads-Up Poker Championship, the Aruba Classic, and the Wynn Classic. Matusow has also been featured on High Stakes Poker and is a regular fixture on Poker After Dark, which he won once. You can also regularly find Matusow playing a wide range of games and tournaments on Full Tilt Poker where he is a member of Team Full Tilt.

Is WPT Global Poker Available in Ontario?
WPT Global poker is available across much of Canada, but due to Ontario’s provincial legislation, players from Ontario are blocked from accessing the platform. Ontario has a regulated online poker market that requires operators to obtain a local license and comply with strict rules, such as ring-fencing player pools so that Ontario residents compete only against other Ontario-located players. Since WPT Global operates under an international license from Curaçao and does not have an Ontario-specific license, Ontario players cannot legally use WPT Global to play poker. Instead, Ontario residents must use provincially licensed platforms like GGPoker Ontario or 888poker Ontario to participate in online poker, including the WPT World Championship events.
Is WPT Global Legal in Canada? Latest 2025 Update
WPT Global is legal for most Canadian players as the platform operates under a legitimate license issued by the Government of Curaçao (license #365/JAZ). This license ensures that WPT Global adheres to regulatory standards, including using certified Random Number Generator (RNG) technology, conducting KYC verification, and applying robust security measures like two-factor authentication and IP/device tracking. WPT Global is operated by Seventip N.V. and is recognized as a secure and fair platform for online poker players. While the Curaçao license is not the strictest globally, ongoing regulatory reforms and increased enforcement under EU pressure enhance the platform’s credibility. This makes WPT Global a safe option for Canadian poker players outside of provinces with specific restrictions.
Play Online Poker Legally in Ontario 2025
Certainly! Here is a detailed, complete blog-style answer about playing online poker in Ontario in 2025: Playing online poker in Ontario is fully legal and regulated as of April 4, 2022, a landmark date when the Ontario government officially opened its doors to licensed online gambling operators. This legal framework allows companies to offer a range of online gaming products, including poker, casino games, and sports betting, to residents aged 19 and older physically located in Ontario. The market is regulated primarily by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) along with its subsidiary entity, iGaming Ontario (iGO), which oversees licensing, compliance, and player protections. Notable licensed operators authorized to serve the Ontario market include well-known brands such as PokerStars Ontario, GGpoker Ontario, PartyPoker Ontario, and BetMGM Poker Ontario, ensuring players can enjoy games on trustworthy platforms designed to meet provincial standards for fairness and security. Since its launch, the regulated market has guaranteed safe gaming through requirements like advanced encryption technology, rigorous Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures, and responsible gambling measures such as deposit limits, loss limits, self-exclusion options, and time management tools to help prevent problem gambling. Furthermore, free-to-play poker options remain widely available in the province, through apps and sites like ClubGG and the World Series of Poker app, which legally offer entertainment without real money stakes or prizes, appealing to casual players and newcomers alike.
WPT Global Poker Availability in Ontario 2025
WPT Global is widely available across Canada, providing a popular online poker platform for players in most provinces, but Ontario remains a notable exception due to provincial legislation. Specifically, WPT Global is accessible to players in provinces such as Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec, where players can enjoy various poker formats including Texas Hold ’em, Omaha, and other exciting variants. For example, in Alberta, WPT Global players benefit from rake-free tournaments and generous bonuses, enhancing their overall poker experience. However, Ontario restricts access to WPT Global because the province has strict regulations requiring online gambling sites to be licensed locally, which WPT Global currently does not hold. This means Ontario residents must turn to provincially authorized platforms to play online poker legally, highlighting a clear regional difference within Canada in online poker availability and regulation.
